A short loop of surf towns, cliff roads and bakeries — the trip Bumblebee was made for.
The idea
Ericeira is a World Surfing Reserve forty minutes from Lisbon, and the coast north of it is a string of small beaches connected by a road that never needs to be driven quickly. This is a loop, not a route — the point is to move a little and stop a lot.
Day 1 — Arrive slowly
Collect Bumblebee, do the orientation without rushing, and drive the short coastal stretch toward Ericeira. Park above a beach, make the first coffee with the doors open, and let the trip adjust to van speed.
Day 2 — North along the cliffs
Short hops north: a morning beach, a fish lunch in a village, an afternoon of doing very little. Bumblebee is happiest on this kind of day — ten minutes of driving, three hours of staying.
Day 3 — The long way back
Loop inland through cork oaks and small roads, then return to the coast for a final sunset. Fill the tank on the way back — future you says thanks.
Honest notes
Overnight rules vary by municipality and season — use official campsites and marked motorhome areas, and always check locally. We keep a current list of spots we actually use in the Birbi guide you get with the van.
